About the builder

Elliot Hart, Owner and Builder

When I was younger the only thing I cared about was being on two wheels as much as possible. In high school I got my first taste of TIG welding and I loved it as much as BMX. I wanted to get as good as possible at welding and make my own BMX frameset. I attended E.V.I.T. (East Valley Institute of Technology) where I had 2.5 hours a day to focus on TIG welding with expert instruction; I even became aerospace certified.

Fast forward 10 years, I traded BMX bikes for mountain bikes, continued TIG welding in variety of industries, and graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. I’ve always been fascinated with mechanical design, and how to create well designed parts that hold up well to demanding circumstances.

Heeler Cycles has given me the chance to combine my years of hands on experience and university education to produce bicycles I am very proud to say I made.

What sets me apart from other framebuilders is the fact that I was a trained welder first, then a framebuilder. I didn’t pick up a welding torch for the first time with a deadline of finishing my first bike frame. My engineering education enables me to push my fabrication techniques and designs in an innovative direction.
